My Musical Journey

My passion is Music

Ever since I was a small child I have had a love affair with music. It is something that has stayed with me through the good and bad times in my life. Whenever I travel I ALWAYS have my backup guitar in my car; it's not only good for practice but also a comfort. I believe music is the highest art form and can generate feelings and emotions in a way that nothing else can.

My father introduced me to guitar using a fender classical (which he still has) at the age of 7. When I was 8 he bought me an old Sigma steel string acoustic from Mickleburgh's in Bristol and since then I have never looked back. I began to play the piano at the age of 8 and regularly visited our local library where you could rent records (Yes no Internet in those days). This expanded my musical abilities greatly, introducing me for the first time to Jazz, Blues and Country at a young age.

Over the last 25+ years I have performed in bands playing many styles and genres of music including Pop, Jazz, Latin, Country, Folk and Fingerstyle.

I now focus my time nurturing individuals, artists & bands of all ages who do or would like to work in the music industry; providing lessons, techniques or writing & arranging their work.

If you have a passion for music and play Guitar, Piano or Sing; let's get together. I will teach you so much more than just how to play your instrument or use your voice. My sessions are based on your needs and desires. I will help you with your performance, develop confidence, train your ear and enhance your natural rhythm. To make a living in music is not easy. You will need to be dedicated, flexible and open minded. I am able to help you with the technical and marketing aspects of your services too such as a websites & social media while you focus on what you are best at!

If you are already a performer, band or agency, get in touch and let me help you give your work the "edge". I can write, re-write, enhance and arrange your music. I have contacts in the industry that can mix and produce your work professionally as well as access to other session musicians if needed (other than me). Depending on the project, you may be able to hire me on a commission basis. I have Non-Disclosure agreements to protect your valuable work.

I maybe colour blind and left handed but I do have perfect pitch and a natural ear for sound that has been carefully tuned over nearly 3 decades!

What do I actually do?

Well firstly I teach Guitar, Piano and Musicality (Which is the training needed to become musical). Everything I do is geared around you and what you like. If its not fun it does not work!

Secondly, I am a Song Writer & Arranger which means I work in the "background" for other artists. This sometimes means writing their music from scratch or making improvements to their already excellent work.

I have a passion for music and your desires in the industry. I redo, teach, write, advise, listen, understand, care, love, develop, provide insight, ideas and contacts.

Most of all I support my clients. I want you to be successful as a musician in a complicated industry whether band, business, casual player or instrumentalist.

Most of all we have fun. Music is art and needs to be treated with the respect it deserves. Without it our world would be a very different place. Music is part of the gel that holds us together as humans across the world. We just don't talk about it much.

Being left handed means that pens with chains, scissors and kettle's are always the wrong way round for me! However I am blessed with perfect pitch. If you play me anything, I can play it straight back to you on multiple instruments and different keys. Thank goodness I was blessed with something and after many years my skills are very well established in terms of sound.
